  1. How much assembly is required for a bicycle purchased on-line?

Our bikes are shipped to you 95% assembled and pre-tuned at our factory. You only need to mount the pedals and the front wheel. See our manuals which contain lots of pictures for further details.

  2. How do you fold a slice bike?

Please click on the manuals page under support. You will find a pdf document which in addition to assembly and maintenance instructions, provides you with a full color blow by blow guide to folding a slice bike. You will master it in no time.

  3. Can my local bike shop work on the melon bicycles and get parts?

Yes. If there ever were any questions, we would be more than happy to assist a local bike shop in resolving any problems. All bicycles come with components from well known manufacturers. If a component needs to be replaced (highly unlikely) your local bike shop could use the same component in our spec or another similar quality/same size component from another manufacturer. If you choose the second, please check with us regarding warranty consideration.

  4. What is the benefit of internal gear hubs?

For those of you who haven’t tried it, the Shimano internal gear hub offered on several of our models is fantastic. All of the gears in this design are hidden in the bicycle’s rear hub, offering a simple beautiful design that requires zero maintenance and does away with two derailleurs, multiple chain rings, cogs, and shift levers. Many people feel that the internal gear hubs shift smoother and easier than a rear derailleur.

  5. Where did the name melon come from?

We wish that our founder’s name was Joe Melon, but that is not the case. It is still a bit of a mystery. We hope that you like it.
